For voluntary firefighters, there are about 165,000 in Slovenia, this year is a year of important anniversaries. Especially proud moment in the history of Metlika firefighters. They celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Slovenian Firefighting Museum dr. Branko Božič in Metlika, 70 years of the Firefighter Association of Slovenia, and the most celebrated is certainly the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first voluntary firefighter association in Metlika, and thus the beginning of organized firefighting in Slovenia.
Therefore, President Borut Pahor handed over an honorary patronage to events at the 150th anniversary of the firefighting service in the Presidential Palace today.
The modern heroes, who often risk their lives in order to save our lives, awaited the arrival of President Borut Pahor in the crystal hall. This year is especially festive for them, as it is 150 years since the beginning of the organized firefighting in Slovenia.
The President of the Slovenian Republic supported the great jubilee with honorary patronage. "We celebrate your anniversary as your anniversary and your successes as your own and to recognize your merits for living in a safe country as we live today. Thank you, congratulations," Pahor said on a special occasion.
